In recent years, IOM has supported initiatives aimed at addressing drivers of instability, revitalizing local governance mechanism, creating positive initiatives and narratives with youth and media partners, and preventing violent extremism through education and cultural awareness in marginalized communities.
Specifically, since 2018, a special attention is given to prevent radicalization, recruitment, and inspiration of individuals to violence extremists’ ideologies and group in Montenegro.
Through strong youth programming, IOM promotes social cohesion, empowers and network local youth as agents of change to let them lead advocacy efforts and implement community initiatives, amplify positive narratives, and promote participation in democratic processes to strengthen trust in local institutions.
