Conference: Migratory Challenges on the Western Balkans Route
Podgorica - Our Chief of Mission Mr. Vladimir Gjorgjiev was pleased to attend the conference: „Migratory Challenges on the Western Balkans Route” and be part of a panel discussion on challenges in readmission and return policy to the countries of origin, organized in partnership between European Migration Network and Podgorica Chairmanship in Office of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) on 06 June 2023.
The main focus of the discussion was strengthening cross-border cooperation to address smuggling of migrants and trafficking in human beings and challenges in readmission and return policy to the countries of origin along the Western Balkans route as well as the challenges arising from the increased number of people fleeing the war in Ukraine: temporary protection and best practices.
IOM Montenegro is supporting the Government of Montenegro in Migration Management in main areas of Border Management, digitalization and infrastructure, assistance to migrants via AVRR program, counter trafficking and other issues related to our mandate.
IOM appreciates the good efforts of the government institution, on central and local level, that work on migrants’ reintegration in whole of society approach. Hope in near future the new eRCMS system will be presented in the country and will be used for more efficient readmission case management in Montenegro.
