Crossing Borders, Bridging Expertise: IOM- Supported Initiative Facilitates Knowledge Exchange Between Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina

Montenegrin Border Police officials visited the Central Investigation Office within the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina to get insights into the organization of the respective unit and to further elaborate on positive practice examples to be implemented in Montenegro.

Tasks and responsibilities related to the prevention, detection, and investigation of criminal activities targeting national border security were discussed in detail by the two delegations. Furthermore, participants exchanged experiences related to the collection, processing, and exchange of intelligence data, including strategic analysis, risk assessment, and criminal forensic actions and procedures.

Additionally, the Montenegrin delegation was provided with the opportunity to obtain practical insight into the system's functioning through an on-site visit to the field office and border crossing at Sarajevo Airport.

The activity is financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark through the regional project “Western Balkans Integrated Border Management Capacity Building Facility”.
