Enhancing Border and Readmission Capabilities in the Western Balkans

Podgorica - A significant gathering took place in Podgorica as the WBCAP/WBIBM National Steering Committee meeting convened. Supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Western Balkans is actively engaged in the implementation of two vital 3-year Regional Facilities: the "Western Balkans Integrated Border Management Capacity Building Facility (WBIBM)" and the "Western Balkans Readmission Capacity Building Facility (WBCAP)."

These Facilities carry the overarching objective of bolstering the capacity of Western Balkans authorities in effectively managing their borders while simultaneously contributing to the enhancement of national migration management and readmission systems across the region.
The meeting was convened to provide a platform for presenting and discussing the array of activities conducted during the previous period in the realms of readmission and integrated border management. Additionally, it aimed to reach a consensus on the forthcoming activities scheduled for the upcoming period, with a particular focus on the establishment of a readmission case management system.

This endeavor underscores IOM's commitment to fostering effective border management and readmission processes throughout the Western Balkans, ultimately contributing to regional stability and secure migration management.
