First Steering Committee Meeting (Scm) for the Project "Eu Support for Migration and Border Management in Montenegro"
Podgorica - The first Steering Committee Meeting (SCM) for the project "EU Support for Migration and Border Management in Montenegro" was held on July 12, 2023, in Podgorica.
The key participants of the SCM included the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the EU Delegation to Montenegro, and the Ministry of the Interior, which is the final beneficiary of the project.
The meeting aimed to inform all Committee members, relevant partners and stakeholders about the governance and project set-up-related activities that have been implemented thus far and agree on future plans for implementation of this important project.
During the meeting, the Annual and Multi-Annual Work Plans and project activities were presented and discussed among the participants. Following the meeting and productive discussion, all involved actors agreed to continue with the necessary steps for the project implementation. It was emphasized that mutual, continuous, and timely coordination will be essential throughout the project implementation to ensure the achievement of the expected results, particularly those that are crucial during the first year.
The IOM reaffirmed its commitment to provide strong support to Montenegro as it approaches the final stages of its EU accession efforts.
This support will specifically focus on helping Montenegro align with EU standards and requirements within Negotiation Chapters 23 and 24.
