HE Mr. President Milatović's Visit to the United Nations
Podgorica - HE Mr. President Milatović visited the United Nations residence in Podgorica, where he met with the Heads of United Nations Agencies in Montenegro, along with the UN Resident Coordinator.
This meeting offered a valuable chance to gain insights into the objectives and ongoing programs of UN agencies.
Mr. Gjorgjiev, the Chief of IOM Montenegro, also delivered an insightful presentation about IOM's mission and initiatives. In his speech, he highlighted IOM's commitment to supporting the Government of Montenegro in strengthening migration governance capacities. This includes improving border controls, countering trafficking, and enhancing cross-border cooperation, work with diaspora and remittances.
Mr. Gjorgjiev highlighted that IOM Montenegro is dedicated to assisting the government in identifying, referring, and protecting migrants in vulnerable situations, such as unaccompanied children and victims of trafficking. As well as that, IOM is working on mechanisms for assisted voluntary return and reintegration for stranded migrants and improving data collection and sharing for evidence-based analysis of regional migration trends.
