IOM Representatives in Montenegro Visit the Administration for Cooperation With Diaspora - Expatriates
Podgorica - Representatives of the IOM, Tijana Simić, Project Coordinator, and Anđela Dulović, Project Assistant, paid a visit to the Administration for Cooperation with Diaspora-Expatriates. They were warmly received by the Acting Assistant Director, Arben Jakupi.
Jakupi extended a warm welcome to the guests and expressed satisfaction with the institution's interest in forming future cooperation with the Administration. One of the key topics of discussion was introducing the visitors to the work of the Administration and the activities stemming from the Law on Cooperation between Montenegro and the Diaspora-Expatriates. They also discussed upcoming projects aimed at continuity and strengthening communication with the Montenegrin diaspora. In this regard, Jakupi provided information about the activities related to this year's event, "Days of the Diaspora-Expatriates," scheduled to be held in Plav, as well as the Language and Culture Summer School, "Montenegro, My Homeland," to be held at Ivan's Springs, along with other significant activities planned for the rest of the year.
Project Coordinator Tijana Simić expressed gratitude to the hosts for their warm welcome and emphasized that IOM is ready to support many projects of importance for connecting the diaspora with Montenegro. They recognized the Administration and its activism as a strategically significant institution for collaboration. Simić underlined that, with a well-structured action plan to be developed by the Administration for the upcoming period, she is confident that Montenegro will become the next member and active participant in the Global Diaspora Summit in 2026.
The participants agreed that there is ample room for mutual collaboration. In the spirit of numerous ideas planned for implementation, they agreed on further steps in cooperating on projects focused on enhancing and improving the relationship between the diaspora and the state of Montenegro.
