IOM Supports Strengthening Diaspora Governance in Montenegro

Podgorica - The results of the first phase of the project supported by the IOM Development Fund (IDF) "Diaspora engagement for the sustainable development of Montenegro" were presented at the final event held on July 26 in Podgorica, which gathered relevant actors in the field of cooperation with the diaspora.

In the presence of project partners, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Administration for Cooperation with the Diaspora-Expatriates of Montenegro, as well as local authorities, NGO that have prominent cooperation with the diaspora, two documents prepared during the project were presented: "Methodology for Diaspora Mapping using Big Data and Traditional Social Science Methods" and "Analysis of Diaspora registries in Montenegro with Recommendations for their Development, Marketing and Management". 

The participants were informed about the results of the pilot diaspora mapping carried out with the use of web analytics. Together, we are forging a path towards sustainable development and creating a stronger bond with the diaspora and local community.
