Podgorica - Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Admir Adrović met with the IOM Chief of Mission and Western Balkans Coordinator Laura Lungarota and Chief of Mission for Montenegro Vladimir Gjorgjiev. 

The meeting was extremely constructive and productive, and several important topics related to migration and social care in the Western Balkans were discussed. The Minister expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with the IOM and stressed the importance of their support in facing migration challenges. He also pointed out that the Government of Montenegro has a strong commitment to improving the conditions for migrants and refugees, as well as their social inclusion in society.

Ms. Laura Lungaroti expressed gratitude to the Minister for the strong support provided by the Montenegro Government to IOM and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the organization and the Ministry. She also mentioned the Government's efforts in addressing migration issues and stressed the importance of supporting migrants in their integration process.

During the meeting, specific initiatives to improve the conditions for migrants and refugees in the Western Balkans were considered. It was agreed that the Ministry and the IOM work jointly to improve access to health care, accommodation, and other basic needs of migrants. The importance of providing social support to migrants and refugees, as well as strengthening their skills and capacity to facilitate integration into local communities is also stressed.

Minister Adrović and the head of the IOM Mission agreed that regional cooperation is of key importance in resolving migration challenges. Both sides expressed their readiness for further strengthening cooperation and exchange of best practices in the field of migration and social care.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister and the Chiefs of IOM Mission expressed optimism and confidence that their cooperation would contribute to improving the living conditions of migrants and refugees in the Western Balkans. Both sides agreed to continue working together to ensure migrants and refugees are treated with dignity and respect, ensure their social inclusion and integration into society.
