Minister Ivanović Held a Meeting with the Chief of Mission in Montenegro, Vladimir Gjorgjiev
Collaboration with the IOM Montenegro and projects aimed at addressing migration challenges are considered complementary processes to reforms in key chapters of European integration, as assessed during the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Filip Ivanović, and the Chief of the IOM Mission in Montenegro, Vladimir Gjorgjiev.
Minister #Ivanović expressed gratitude for IOM's support in combating illegal migration, emphasizing that joint projects contribute to the successful fulfilment of obligations from the European agenda. He stated that Montenegro appreciates involvement in various regional projects related to capacity building and the development of institutional and legislative frameworks, aiming to strengthen readiness to respond promptly to migration challenges.
In this context, he emphasized, "The Government of Montenegro, at the political and programmatic levels, advocates for improving the socio-economic status of refugees and displaced persons, with a particular focus on education, healthcare, and social protection."
Gjorgjiev highlighted the excellent collaboration with institutions in Montenegro, recalling current projects and results of previously implemented initiatives aimed at strengthening institutional capacities in the field of migration policy and integrated border management. He presented IOM's regional engagement and opportunities to intensify cooperation in areas contributing to the success of Montenegro's European path.
"Our projects are programmatically aligned with the European integration process, and IOM will continue to support Montenegro in achieving its most important foreign policy goal," stated Gjorgjiev.
The participants exchanged views on current global security challenges and their impact on migration policies.
