Preparatory Works Completed for the New NCC Building of the Border Police Sector
Within the framework of the project "Individual Measure to Strengthen Integrated Border Management Capacities in Montenegro," financed by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Migration Agency - International Organization for Migration in Montenegro (IOM Montenegro), preparatory works for the construction of an administrative building for the Ministry of the Interior in Zagorič were completed over the past two months.
The preparatory works included various activities, such as relocating optical cables and vehicles from the existing plot where the building will be constructed, as well as procuring prefabricated containers and garages, which were officially handed over to the user for further use today.
The construction of the new building, which is planned to house the future National Coordination Center (#NCC) of the Border Police Sector, is expected to begin in the coming days. The implementation of this project activity significantly contributes to strengthening capacities of the Border Police capacities and fulfilling obligations from Negotiation Chapter 24 – Justice, Freedom, and Security.
IOM, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior and all other relevant parties will continue to support Montenegro on its path to EU membership, particularly emphasizing the importance of better integrated border and migration management in Montenegro.
