Project Kick-off “European Union Support for Migration and Border Management in Montenegro”
Podgorica - The Delegation of the European Union, the Government of Montenegro and IOM Montenegro jointly marked the beginning of the program, which will focus on strengthening national capacities for migration management in the country.
The project aims to contribute to the achievement of strategic goals as set by the Integrated Border Management (IBM) Strategy and Schengen Action Plan in areas of border security, migrant identification and registration, information management, and overall human-rights compliant management of the blue and green borders.
“Through this important work, Montenegro will strengthen technical capacities to implement EU-compliant identification and registration and identification systems, a prerequisite for EU accession. Cooperation and exchange of expertise with EU Member states will be integrated into the workstream of the project” stated IOM Senior Programme Coordinator Migration Management Western Balkans, Ms. Donatella Bradić.
